Brentwood is a growing city in central Tennessee. It is a suburb of Nashville and located 10 miles south of downtown Nashville in Williamson County. According to the United States Census Bureau, Brentwood was populated by approximately 42,517 people as of 2016. 

Brentwood is in an area of Tennessee originally inhabited by Native American Indians. French and English explorers arrived in the area in the mid-1700s. The Mayfield family are believed to be the first family to settle in modern-day Brentwood. In 1969, Brentwood became an incorporated municipality.
